We remember and celebrate ! Israel’s Remembrance and Independence Day this week
wo very important events are taking place this week. Israel Remembrance day, Yom Hazikaron. It is Israel’s official day of remembrance for its fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. This day is extremely solemn and you will find places of entertainment closed and flags at half-mast. Every year, there are many ceremonies that take place at cemeteries, near memorials around Jerusalem and Israel. This year, we will be remember our heroes from home. We remember their sacrifices and our hearts are filled with gratitude.
In a way and very unique to Israel, Remembrance Day flows straight into Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day. We acknowledge the direct connection between our loss and the independence and sovereignty that we appreciate so much, now more than ever.Yom Ha’atzmatut, is a day of great celebration! This is the day where Israel declared its independence 72 years ago. Twelve torches are lit, which symbolizes the Twelve Tribes of Israel by twelve citizens who have made a great impact on the country. This year the ceremony will be carried live on television without the usual large audience. The traditional BBQ will be held in our backyards and on balconies, only with closest family members, since large number gatherings are not permitted.Israel will celebrate this huge event; thanks are given to God for making this miracle possible and for creating the State of Israel!
